Container-Based Dive Tank

This custom project was built for the Canadian Coast Guard for diver training purposes. The unit is 20' (L) x 8' (W) x 8.5' (H), and holds up to 30,000 litres. It also has an expansion capability to double that capacity on future upgrade. There are three viewing windows where the trainer can monitor the divers.

ContainerWest uses SolidWorks Simulations to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on computer models to ensure that the product will meet the stress and deflection criteria defined by the client's objectives. You can view pictures of the computer models here.

Four-storey Fire Training Facility

We recently finished building a modular fire training facility for the Surrey, B.C. Fire Department. This extremely versatile four-storey structure was constructed from 15 modified shipping containers and was designed to meet a wide variety of training scenarios. It features a five-storey apartment-style stair tower, a two person roof-mounted rappel bar, two burn rooms with kitchen and bedroom props, and several rooms of varying size, with open spaces as large as 16' x 40'.

BC Hydro's "Home of the Future"

BC Hydro recently showcased its "Home of the Future" in Vancouver throughout the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. ContainerWest supplied and installed the container-based frame for the house, and HKM Ltd. did the rest.

This house is BC Hydro's concept for the next generation of homes focused on sustainability and eco-friendliness. Among its many notable features is the use recycled shipping containers for structure, pine beetle wood & cedar for exterior cladding, a "green wall" for insulation, and solar panels for collecting clean renewable energy from the sun.
